Tiny hole in the wall that you might miss if you didn't know it was there. Pizza, pasta, sandwiches and panini. Delicious creations like The Vermonter sandwich ($7.25) with maple turkey, smoked gouda, sliced green apple, red onion, sun dried tomato mayo, and extra thick multigrain bread which is then baked to perfection in their oven. For $6.25 you can have The Whites Cranberry Salad (fresh greens topped with walnuts, Cape Cod cranberries, cucumbers, red onion, crumbled blue cheese and a side of balsamic vinaigrette. A variation on the French Dip ($6.95) is the vegetarian Farmer Dip for $6.75, stuffed with fresh spinach, carrot, red onion, cucumber, mushrooms, roasted red pepper, tomato, sliced mozzarella, and a side of rosemary au jus. There are no less than 7 variations on the classic Reuben sandwich. Try the Z-berg Pizza with proscuitto and carmelized onions ($13.95 large). I could go on all day. Free delivery to East Boston and the Airport.

This five-time Best of Boston pizza joint has been making mouths water since 1902. Although in the beginning, it was just the grilled meat that they are duly famous for. When the "new expansion" happened in the 1920s, pizza came onto the scene. People in and outside of the Boston area make the drive to Eastie for their famous cheesy pies. Parking is terrible and there is sure to be a line out the door on any given night. But at lunchtime, it's easier to get a seat. If you eat in, ask your waiter to tell you about the celebrities he's served. If you're ordering take-out, bring someone with you and let them wait while you circle around.
The open-fire grill produces both lamb kebabs and sausage while the pizza oven produces fantastic pizza in a number of combinations. The food is just straight out good. There's beer, wine and a full bar to accompany your selection.
Located on the corner of Chelsea and Porter, just minutes from Logan International Airport, it is the perfect location to stop before or after (and heck, even in between) flights. It's that good.

Co-owners Mel and Tom opened this East Boston gem using recycled salvaged product from the old building which was formerly the home of Aronson's Dry Goods. The duo successfully modernized the spot with solar lighting and heat while preserving the charm of the up-and-coming neighborhood. Designed to showcase the work of local painters, scultors and poets, 303 Cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with vegan offerings as well as Columbian-inspired musts like their authentic empanada ($3) and pastelle ($4) coupled with a tasty chorizo-encrusted salmon ($13) and a yummy blood orange chicken picatta ($13.50). 303 Cafe is a beacon of light that should re-energize East Boston's dining scene.

This is such a beautiful restaurant, with elegant tables, an open kitchen and a fireplace. There's a bit of faux exposed brick and decoration, and I can guarantee that there isn't a bad seat in the house. Anywhere you sit would be a great spot. I was greeted by this tiny little girl, who offered me a menu and graciously asked me where I would like to sit. She knew the ropes, young as she was, and gave me the sweetest smile as she ran around the restaurant to find me a table. There were plenty of adults to assist, of course. Charming place with a lot of character. Try their Latin breakfasts. Pork rind with corn cake for $2.50, fried cheese ball ($1) or Colombian Sausage ($2.50). Maybe you're after some Red Snapper ($15) or Flank Steak ($11). They also serve roasted chicken and burgers.

This is the freshest seafood you can get. Boats dock here and unload their cargo. You can go to the walk-up counter for prepared meals, which I hear are great. The lobster rolls have a full half pound of tails! Big servings at cheap prices. Don't go there on a Friday, because the line runs out the door and cars are double parked all along the road. Don't even bother trying to get a seat; there are 9 stools and you can sit on a counter, but it's mainly a take out place anyway. The locals know that it's the best seafood place around, and that includes the cops, firemen and ambulance crews. They know their fish and can cook it up any which way but loose. Jim Costin is the owner and is a great guy. Tip: they don't start cooking fish until 11am even though their hours don't reflect that, so don't come early expecting it!

Step out of the busy city streets, and step into this elegantly charming spot. This is a family owned restaurant. The mother makes everything from scratch, and these are her own recipes that she uses in her own kitchen at home. Her son owns the restaurant, and her daughter is the waitress. Tasteful artwork by local artist Janett Lazarus lines the walls, the decor is clean and simple, and this would be one of the few places in Day Square that I would take someone on a special date. They have traditional fare, such as Tipico Savadoreno, which is scrambled eggs with fried beans, sour cream, fried plantains and avocado for $5.99, Tacos for $1.75 each, Carne Asada ($9.50) and Salmon ($11). Homecooked meals in a classy setting and at a very good price. Wine menu available.

The enjoyably chaotic atmosphere is the closest you might be able come to a classic Mexican taqueria - loud music, cramped environment (just 10 seats), high energy and quick, good food. Pupusas ($1.50), Tacos ($1.50 ea), Chicken Platter ($8.50), or the Mountain Man Platter - the most expensive item on the menu ($10.50) reserved for the only most macho among us.
Recently featured as one of the best tacos in Boston by the Boston Globe: "The carne asada taco starts as a double layer of soft, warm corn tortillas stuff ed with the best part of a grilled steak - the smoky, salty crust. The lightly charred meat is incredibly moist and comes adorned with the bare minimum of toppings: a spoonful of fresh onions, cilantro, and tomato sauce"

This is a beautiful restaurant with a dimly lit bar downstairs, and a Brazilian buffet on the cozy second floor. The entire buffet menu ($8.99) is available for delivery as well, and varies by day of the week, featuring dishes such as: beef tripe, chicken stew w/yucca, fish stew, and beef ribs. They also serve a full line of churrasco (barbecue) and Brazilian sides like yucca, fritas, farofa, arroz, salpicao, and plantains. If you've never been here, don't be shy about asking questions, as the employees are willing to show you around and make you feel comfortable. Serve yourself a dishful of yummy food, and sit by the window to watch the world below. Live music Thursdays and Fridays.

A nice little place reminiscent of the North End, where you can dress up a little and get together with family and friends for good food and coffee. Proprietors Tony and Donna Oliviero will make sure that everyone feels welcome, and the atmosphere is very warm and casual. The front seating section is very nice with the open kitchen. Lots of politicians and well known people in the Italian American community come to dine there. John, the daytime espresso guy, makes a killer foamy brew. The lounge is a great place for an after-dinner drink. On a nice evening, top it all off with a leisurely stroll to Piers Park on Marginal Street. The views of Boston from there are truly magical. TIP: Thursdays and Fridays feature live entertainment.
