Central Square of East Boston (not to be confused with a similarly named Square in Cambridge) lies about 100 yards from the Sumner Tunnel. The main intersection of Central Square lies at Bennington and Meridian and contains a modified rotary. At the beginning of December, there is a parade and tree lighting ceremony, and in the summer it is the site of the Italia Unita street festival.
